To develop a reference information system including index of biography, bibliographic list of works by Russian scholars who immigrated from Russia and the USSR to the US and other western countries
Brief description
The project envisages several stages and includes: biographic information search; bibliographic search and acquisition of the list of publications by authors before and after immigration from Russia (USSR); development of reference abstract catalog; creation of electronic library of works; publishing of information reference encyclopedia Russian Scholars Abroad in printed form and on CD-ROM.

To develop a system securing Russian scholars' copyright when reprinting, copying or using their works in any other way by foreign libraries and other institutions.
Brief description
Project envisages setting up a "copyright office" on the basis of ILIAC, development of legal, financial, and technological aspects of the system operation, as well as a copyright control service.

Project consists of several stages: 1. Research into Cyrillic encoding systems. Development of approaches to solve the unification problem. The stage has been given support of IFLA and UNESCO. 2. Development of the technology and software for efficient processing of Cyrillic texts. 3. Provision of free access to developed products. Elaboration of proposals on unification and standardization of Cyrillic information representation in the electronic form and submitting them to legislative bodies for consideration
