Abstract. This up-to-date universal Russian encyclopedia is the fourth edition of the first Russian multimedia seven-disk encyclopedia. This is the most comprehensive information resource on all fields of knowledge. It includes 8100 entries; the Explanatory Dictionary of the Russian Language; the World Geographical Atlas; Russian Federation laws; nine multimedia panoramas, photograph albums; the Video Archive of the Russian History; a video “Science and Technology. Natural Phenomena”. The amount of the encyclopedia’s text makes 50 volumes (without the audio and video materials). A special breakdown and a unique retrieval system facilitate information search.
