The encyclopedia presents the heterogeneous political structure of pre-soviet Russia, including its national regions, as well as the activities of parties and their leaders during the first decades of Soviet history. The chronology covers the period from the parties rise till ceasing of their activities in Soviet Russia. The publication is based upon archival investigations. It includes articles of three types: a) reviews of the parties history; b) biographical essays; c) articles on publications. The articles are supplied with references (bibliography; resources, including archival ones).
