Series: "Nuclear Russia". Nuclear Shield. Disks 1,2. Abstract. Unique publication contains materials on Soviet nuclear weapons development, which were considered just recently as "top secret". The first disk contains 3 major divisions: "Atomic commissar", "Years, events, persons", "By witnesses’ view". It also contains materials on life and work of Boris L’vovich Vannikov – an outstanding individual of Soviet nuclear industry. It includes photos from family archive, memoirs by contemporaries, biographies of nuclear complex supervisors, and materials on the development of the Russian nuclear industry. The last division presents video chronicles and documents on the construction of the Semipalatinsk Testing Ground, construction and testing of the first Soviet plutonium bomb. The second disk consists of 2 divisions: "Newsreels tell" and "Unknown" cities". The disc contains newsreels on nuclear testing, design of the most powerful hydrogen bomb, rockets launches and on previously secreted cities which are not indicated on maps and where the Soviet "Nuclear Shield" was created.
